Many pregnant and single mothers have no place to call home because of domestic violence, substance use, mental health or other challenges. Through a family-oriented shelter, transitional housing, aftercare services and a variety of support programs, we help mothers get back on their feet and build self-sufficient futures with stable housing and jobs.
Our Impact
For our residents, New Generation is a safe, caring and motivating environment where they can pursue their goals for a new beginning – and begin to rebuild the lives they want to live.
74 families were provided with emergency and transitional housing, many escaping environments of violence, substance use or live on the streets.
80 children are now the path to living in safe, stable and supportive home environments.
58 families became more self-sufficient through our aftercare services.

What Makes New Generation Unique
- New Generation is the only emergency shelter for pregnant and single mothers, as well as their children, on the Seacoast.
- Our families consider our safe, caring and motivating environment as their best chance for a new beginning after experiencing homelessness due to violence, trauma and substance use.
- We address two of the biggest risk factors and causes of homelessness among mothers and children – substance use and mental health.
- Unlike many shelters, our work doesn’t stop when a family secures permanent housing. Our aftercare services are proven to reduce the frequent risk of recurring homelessness, ensuring families continue further on their path to independence.
